What is a capsule wardrobe and how to create a sustainable one

As information grows and spreads about the negative practices of the textile industry related to human and environmental factors, sustainability is gaining momentum and more and more customers are opting for conscious, healthy and responsible fashion.
There are different ways to shop sustainably, and if we want to update our wardrobe for the new season, starting to invest in high-quality and versatile clothing will not only save us a lot of money and time, but also contribute to the shift towards developing a more ethical business model.
The idea is to start creating a capsule wardrobe from the purchase of clothing produced in accordance with respect for the rights of people and the environment. Such a wardrobe should have basic, functional and timeless elements of clothing that will allow us to create many combinations for various occasions. Thus, we are heading towards filling the current wardrobe with more clothes that we will often never use. The definition of a capsule wardrobe has evolved over the years since Susie Fox coined the concept in 1973 with a collection where she sought to show that there is no need to constantly buy new clothes and that with a limited number of pieces (no more than 40) there is enough. Susie Fox's philosophy is based on prioritizing the idea of "less is more". It promotes prudent and responsible consumption in order to give up everything that we do not use and which, after all, does not make us happier.
Perhaps the idea of reducing your wardrobe to 40 pieces (including shoes and accessories) seems too limited, but it will force you to experiment, be more creative with what you have and extend the life of your clothes. And what emotions are there! It's better than looking for a promotion for another item from the chain store!
Start creating a capsule wardrobe by removing the clothes you no longer like or wear. To the selected basic clothes (remember to leave a maximum of 40 pieces according to the Faux philosophy), you can add elements that you think are necessary for each season, that harmonize with what you leave. Verify that you can create different combinations of the selected items.
There are more and more fashion options and brands that want to distance themselves from harmful and consumer fashion and are committed to transparent and sustainable practices, the use of sustainable textiles and fair trade. At JuSi, all clothes are made of natural, ecological and toxin-free materials. We create clothes that are healthy for people and the planet. Thanks to the high quality, the clothes look impeccable even after a long time and use.
